The Arundell Arms is a former 18th century coaching inn on a site which dates back to Saxon times in a valley of five rivers on the Devon and Cornwall border offering log fire comfort, and outstanding gourmet food.
The Arundell Arms exudes warmth and comfort -- not only in the sitting room but in the bar with its buzz of talk about the events of the day, in the bedrooms with their private bathrooms, colour television, direct dial telephones, and in small thoughtful things such as the home-made chocolates placed in the sitting room for the guests after dinner and the bowls of fresh flowers everywhere.
From the sitting room you can see the 250-year old cockpit, one of the few remaining in England now the hotel’s rod and fishing tackle room, and the terraced garden where swifts and swallows soar over your head as you enjoy a drink in the evening sun. Around the quadrangle of the car park there is a skittle alley for children as well as grown-ups, meeting rooms, and the locals’ bar.
One of England's premier fishing hotels it owns 20 miles of salmon and trout fishing and has a famous fly-fishing school. The hotel reflects "Old England" - miles from civilisation - and a place to relax either with the many available country pursuits
